Last year, a Los Angeles County jury found Qualcomm liable for $7.1 million in damages as a result of a burn incident. Qualcomm,a telecommunications equipment company, was found negligent in an electrical re incident, where a third-party contractor suffered third-degree burns while servicing electrical equipment on the company’s premise. The incident, which resulted in catastrophic injury, provides an opportunity to assess contractor safety and the liability incurred when contractors step foot on company property.
